I’m Not a Perfect Sufi
A parody of The Reason, by Hoobastank.
This is quickly recorded – a work in progress …
The lyrics are as follows:
I’m not a perfect Sufi –
I’ve resisted this path my entire life.
I’m not sure what I was scared of?
It’s not like I’m unaccustomed to strife.
I’ve been with every Murshid that we’ve had …
And yet I’ve still been so bad!
But in this rare opportunity,
I want you to know that I’m ready.
I’ve been ground to dust completely –
So I lay my life at your feet.
I hope that you’ll accept me.
If not, I’ll just keep knocking at your door.
‘Cause I can’t stand being separate –
It’s so much more horrific than before!
And yet I’m awed by your maturity ….
I’m glad it’s you and not me!
You’ve accepted the challenge at hand –
A sacrifice none of us could withstand.
I’m grateful for your ability …
I pledge my life in service to thee!
I’m sorry Upasni startled you –
He just would not leave your poor wife alone.
Thank God she finally finished –
If not, the seeds of love might not have been sown.
And I might be adrift without a guide …
But now there’s nowhere to hide!
And I bound my life to thee,
And all of Meher Baba’s Sufis.
I want to aid wakening man …
I’m a really big fan!
